After graduating from ÃÛÌÒAV in 2016, Louise was offered a research position at the Orthopaedic Research Institute (ORI) where she was involved in conducting world-leading research in arthritis management.
Alongside this role, she completed a part-time PhD, investigating neuromuscular electrical stimulation to improve recovery from hip replacement surgery.
Louise has co-authored 26 published research papers and collaborated with several notable industry partners including the NHS and BH Live Active, to help improve patient care locally and globally. After completing her PhD, she was offered a teaching role in Sport and Exercise Science and has since been promoted to a Lecturer. This year, she was awarded a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy in recognition of her contribution to teaching and learning at ÃÛÌÒAV.
Louise says: “My undergraduate studies at ÃÛÌÒAV provided me with a wealth of knowledge in sports science and skills in conducting research, that enabled me competently to fulfil my role at ORI, complete my PhD, and apply for a Lectureship. Furthermore, my undergraduate dissertation, specific to arthritis in rugby players, supported my application for employment at ORI. I am very grateful for my time spent studying at ÃÛÌÒAV and would not have the career I have today without it. “
