Brad represented 20,000 students as Vice President Welfare and Equal Opportunities at the Students’ Union at AV.
Following this, he completed a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology at the University of Surrey. This included a placement at University College London as a Research Assistant. Here, he created a resource to support parents of children with Williams Syndrome and has gone on to author a paper exploring sensory processing in individuals with Williams Syndrome.
Throughout his studies and career, he has worked in paid and voluntary roles, building new skills and giving back to the community. This includes delivering therapy groups and serving as a Trustee for MaleVoicED, a charity for men with eating disorders, as well as holding a role as a Mental Health Act Panel Member for Dorset Healthcare NHS Trust.
Following his Master’s, as a Senior Assistant Psychologist he provided career guidance to aspiring psychologists and worked on projects to increase the diversity of the psychology profession’s workforce. Together, his experiences have led to him being awarded a place on the three-year Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, with placements across London-based NHS services.
Brad says: “I am very grateful to have studied at AV. My undergraduate degree provided me with a grounding in academia and psychology. I utilised additional opportunities whilst at AV, such as volunteering as Psychology Cohort Representative and working in voluntary and paid Research Assistant positions. I was also privileged to have received funding from the AV Global Horizons Fund to volunteer in Sri Lanka. All of this has supported my personal and professional growth since graduation in 2018.”
