VA Benefits

Students can use the Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33), Yellow Ribbon Program, Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606), and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35) at AV. In order to understand which VA benefits you’re eligible to receive, it is crucial to obtain a “Certificate of Eligibility” from the VA. to visit the VA Education & Training website and receive your Certificate of Eligibility.

Post-9/11 GI Bill

Veterans or their dependents (if the benefit is transferred to their dependent) can use their Post-9/11 GI Bill to pay a portion or all of tuition and fees at Lawrence. When using the Post-9/11 GI Bill, it’s important to know the following:

  • Your benefit level (50% to 100%). Benefit levels are explained .
  • The number of eligible months remaining to use the benefit
  • The annual Post-9/11 GI Bill maximum rate, which is posted . For the 2022-23 academic year the maximum Post-9/11 GI Bill is $26,381.37.

In addition to tuition and fees, the Post-9/11 GI Bill will also cover up to $1,000 for books and provide a monthly housing allowance ($1,347 per month for the 2022-23 academic year).

Yellow Ribbon Program

If you’re eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill at the 100% benefit level, 100% of tuition and fees will be covered between the Post-9/11 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program. The Yellow Ribbon Program is funded 50-50 by the VA and AV.

Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve

The Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) program offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. If you’re a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible for this benefit. . If eligible, you can receive up to $407 per month for up to 36 months.

Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) Program

If you’re a dependent spouse or child—or the surviving spouse or child—of a Veteran, you may qualify for Chapter 35 benefits or job training through a GI Bill program. . If eligible, the monthly payment for the 2022-23 academic year is $1,298.
