The new Fusion Building is a physical representation of our vision of Fusion: to create the most stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience in a world-class learning community.
The construction includes 27 new seminar rooms, three lecture theatres, research space, a 24-station PC laboratory, rooftop terraces and numerous catering facilities, topped with a glass-domed roof.
Catering facilities are available throughout the building, including a 250-seat contemporary Fusion Restaurant on the ground floor and the Terrace Café on the second floor.
£22 million was invested in the new building and it was partially funded through a £5 million Higher Education Funding Council for England STEM Award. This was awarded for investment into facilities and initiatives to promote advances in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
The Fusion Building is our most environmentally sustainable building to date. Achieving an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A and BREEAM Excellent, it features a range of the latest technologies designed to reduce its impact.

Ground source heat pumps lower our carbon emissions and heat the building in the winter and cool it during summer. The installation of world-leading efficiency photovoltaic solar panels and micro-combined heat and power systems generates both electricity and heat from the same energy source, allowing the building to run on very low energy inputs.
Sensor-operated LED lighting, the triple-glazed atrium and AV systems, which turn off automatically when the areas are unoccupied, all reduce the energy demands of the building and help us to achieve our commitment to environmental sustainability.
A gender neutral toilet on the ground floor is available to any gender or gender identity.
There is also find a Changing Places facility Changing Places facility on the same floor. Changing Places toilets are different to standard accessible toilets, as they have extra features and more space to meet the needs of people who use them. Anyone in the local area can search for one of these facilities online and use the amenities. Find out more at .
The Fusion Building development has allowed ÃÛÌÒAV to continue its vision to create a modern, state-of-the-art university with world-class academic buildings and outstanding facilities for staff and students.
