Following on from the show, some students have applied their final year project into industry. This includes Ellie Van Leeuween’s final year project of Droplet, which combines a mug or drinking tumbler with an electronic base providing flashing light and sound reminders for hospital users to drink regularly. Droplet is now beginning its product lauch at targeted NHS hospital trusts, and care and nursing home providers.
Previous students have attained industrial awards. Fluvial Innovations, a company founded by graduate Simon Phelps, secured the prestigious accolade of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation. This was awarded due to the company’s research and development of its flood defence system, Floodstop, which protects properties against the cost and misery which arises from flooding.
Other students have gone on to work on projects abroad, established their own businesses, and found employment in highly competitive work sectors. Find out more about their stories and successes below.
