Exploring Long-Term Conditions and Marginalised Groups: An International Perspective
Under this program of research, we are exploring the experiences of individuals living with long-term conditions, with a particular focus on their health, well-being, and access to health and social care services.
Led by, our research spans a diverse range of marginalised communities, including individuals managing chronic health conditions, older adults experiencing frailty, and the health and wellbeing of migrants and their families left behind.
Our interdisciplinary collaboration includes a wide range of stakeholders, such as local health and social care providers, research and educational institutions, charities, development agencies worldwide and patient and service users. Together, we work to identify and prioritize key areas for research.
Key research areas include:
- Developing and promoting health services that support the self-management of long-term conditions, empowering individuals to take control of their health and improve their quality of life.
- Leveraging technological, cultural, environmental, and historical dimensions to promote the health and wellbeing of marginalized populations, particularly those living with long-term conditions, ensuring a holistic approach to healthcare.
- Investigating how healthcare practitioners and educators can effectively promote health and well-being in individuals with long-term conditions, enhancing their role in delivering comprehensive care.
- Utilising technology to foster social inclusion and enhance the well-being of marginalised populations, addressing the unique challenges they face across various settings.
Through our international research efforts, we aim to make a significant impact on the lives of marginalised groups, ensuring they receive the support and resources necessary to thrive.
