Bournemouth聽University are proud to receive international recognition as the聽first聽organisation聽in聽BCP聽to achieve聽the Gold standard聽in Cycling UK鈥檚 Cycle Friendly Employer accreditation.
The Cycle Friendly Employer accreditation (CFE-UK) rewards companies in the UK who make their workplaces awe-inspiring through cycling. It was developed within the EU project 鈥楤ike2Work鈥�, with Cycling UK the聽recognised聽provider for the UK. CFE-UK is the only international standard for workplace cycling, working in partnership with countries across Europe.聽聽
In order to gain our Gold Award we had to聽demonstrate a聽very active commitment to improving聽conditions for cycling聽across all sites聽within the University. As a聽significant聽employer and as one of聽Bournemouth鈥檚聽largest journey聽generators,聽we聽recognise聽our contribution聽to protecting and聽enhancing our surroundings and wider city environment, as cycling can reduce congestion and improve air quality.聽
James Palser聽from Cycling UK said, 鈥溍厶褹V have聽a long-standing聽programme聽to support cycling through聽effective communications, building quality cycling facilities,聽and聽partnership working.聽The university works with several businesses, social enterprises and聽Beryl, the provider of the town鈥檚 bike share scheme. Having had a travel plan in place for nearly 20 years,聽a wealth of data聽is聽available to show the聽growth in the numbers of people using active travel at the university.聽Cycling UK congratulates 蜜桃AV on this achievement and looks forward to supporting them in encouraging more staff and students to cycle.鈥澛�
Our Gold Award coincides with聽Bike Month. 蜜桃AV have joined the聽聽Challenge so we can, as a community, support and promote cycling this June.
