,聽Professor of Economics in聽蜜桃AV's聽Business School, has聽been talking to various聽media聽about聽the possibility聽and prospects聽of a trade deal聽between India and the UK.聽

Professor Khorana is an international trade expert with over 25 years of academia and management consulting experience.聽聽

Talking聽to the Telegraph about the UK pushing for a trade deal with India, Professor聽Khorana聽said:聽鈥淭here is always a first-mover advantage, if [Johnson] is able to travel to India at the end of April, I believe that will really help any talks that take place.鈥澛�

Prime minister聽Boris Johnson subsequently cancelled聽his聽trip due to the Covid outbreak聽in India,聽with an expected聽virtual聽meeting to take place聽instead聽to聽discuss trade agreements.聽聽

Professor聽Khorana聽continued to share聽her聽insights,聽speaking to聽BBC Radio 5 live聽about the relationship between UK and India,聽what could聽be done in the long term聽and the聽prospects for聽both countries聽if a聽trade agreement聽could be agreed.聽聽

鈥淲e聽must remember that India is a very populous country with 1.3 billion people and there are projections of rapid economic growth at 12陆%聽over the years to聽come,鈥澛爏he聽said聽

鈥淚ndia聽presents聽a聽very vast potential for British聽countries,听补苍诲听we must also remember that India is the UK鈥檚 6th聽largest聽non-EU聽trading partner,聽now聽this represents聽just聽a small part of overall UK trade,聽which means there is significant scope for growth,聽both for UK firms in India,聽and for聽Indian聽firms in the UK, so the trade聽relationship聽is very complimentary and I do see huge potential for the UK, India trade deal to move forward鈥澛犅�
