Successful placements and internships undertaken by Faculty of Management students last year were celebrated at the Employability Awards.
The awards, which recognised the contributions of over 60 ÃÛÌÒAV students, is part of the Faculty’s Student Talent Employability Engagement Programme (STEEP), a careers-focused programme designed to develop employability skills through workshops and events with the aim of helping students secure a placement or graduate role.
Dr Philip Ryland, Associate Dean for Student Experience in the Faculty of Management and Chair of the Awards Panel said: “These awards celebrate the best performances from our students whilst on placement.â€
“The judging panel was enormously impressed by the quality of many of the submissions this year and narrowing down the field of submissions for each award has proved to be a difficult task. However, we managed it and we are really proud of your achievements."
Business Studies student, Oliver Lee, scooped three awards for his work at King’s Group, providers of international educational services. Oliver was awarded for Citizenship, Global Engagement and Outstanding Contribution.
Dr Philip Ryland commended Oliver's achievements, saying: “We are all incredibly pleased and proud of his amazing achievement."
While each award recognised several winners for their successful placements, at the ceremony six overall winners were presented with awards in the six categories:Â
- Citizenship Award:Â Oliver Crookall, BSc (Hons) Sports Management with Price Waterhouse Cooper
- Outstanding Contribution Award:Â Lucy Cope, BA (Hons) Retail Management with The Walt Disney Company
- Financial Impact Award:Â Emily Elms, BA (Hons) Business Studies with Nutanix

The awards took place at Key West on Bournemouth Pier and the students were presented with their awards by ÃÛÌÒAV graduate Karl Bygrave, a Director at LUSH.
Global Engagement Overall Award winner, Samantha Littlefield said: “I am thrilled that I was awarded the Global Engagement Award for my placement achievements, I really feel like my hard work in China at UniWigs has been recognised and I couldn't be more grateful. A big thank you for this award and to the awards team for hosting this event.â€Â
BA (Hons) Retail Management student Lucy Cope, reflected on her success, saying: “I am extremely proud to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award for my placement at The Walt Disney Company, it has been incredible to see that the changes I have made are making a significant difference to the company and are now been adopted internationally.
