蜜桃AV Sport Psychology and Coaching Sciences student Ben Tuck has recently been named the number one British GT4 driver by Motorsports News (a weekly national motorsport newspaper). Ben raced for the Century Motorsport squad and drove behind the wheel of BMWs M4 GT4. This was also the British debut of the BMW鈥檚 M4 GT4. In addition to this Ben achieved 2nd place in the British GT Championship this year finishing just one point from getting the title. In his rookie season alone he achieved one win, two podiums and a fastest lap.
Despite being only 21 he鈥檚 had an extremely active career in racing. Ben started off racing in the cadet karts in 2009 and has come a long way since. He has competed in several other events including BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship 2015 and British GT3 Century Motorsport in 2017. He was also RSF MSA Young Driver of the Year in 2015. However, his career in racing is continuing to grow as he is seeking to enter the BMW Endurance challenge in January 2019.
Ben has said, "Racing in British GT this year was my first time in a top flight British championship, so to finish 2nd in the GT4 championship and be rated as the best GT4 driver on the grid this year is an awesome feeling! I鈥檓 glad I could finally prove myself in a top level racing series and hopefully I鈥檒l get to do the same again at Daytona in January. It would be an unbelievable experience to race at Daytona so I really hope we manage to get out there with BMW".
The BMW Endurance challenge is a world famous 24 hour event well known for having skilled drivers take part. Out of the four drivers on his team in the 2018 British GT Championship, Ben was the fastest and most consistent. Compared against his three other teammates, Ben achieved the fastest average race lap time four times and the fastest outright lap five times. These statistics make Ben a key candidate to take part in the 2019 BMW Endurance challenge. Despite his achievements, for him to take part in the challenge next year he must raise 拢23,000 to secure his place on the British race team.
