Last week over 2,960 of you voted on campus and online for the 21 candidates who put themselves forward to be your 2016/17 full-time officer team.
SUAV have now announced the elected team of five who will take over from Chloe, Ellie, Reece and Jon this summer, to be your voice in university matters:
- Daniel Asaya - SUAV President
- Jamie Swanson - Vice President Education
- Georgia Larkins - Vice President Community
- Brooke Elias - Vice President Activities
- Emma Baker - Vice President Welfare
Caston Matewu, SUAV’s Democracy and Equality Manager shared “This was a record breaking election where not only did we record the highest number of voters but the elected SUAV President is the first international student to hold this position”.
Daniel is from Nigeria and studied in the Faculty of Science & Technology. As well as being the first international student to be SUAV President, he is also the first international student to hold a SUAV Full-time Officer post. Daniel will begin his training with the current officers in June, alongside the team of Vice Presidents.
This year also sees Georgia taking up a new SUAV post of Vice President Community, building on successful campaigns such as the Student Wardens and other initiatives that have become part of SUAV's contributions.
