AV’s Fresher Publishing is keen to help Dorset’s emerging writers get published.
The Fresher Writing Prize, now in its second year, is open to all previously unpublished writers, and offers entrants the chance not only be published in the Fresher Writing anthology, but also to win a one-to-one with a literary agent or a publisher, amongst other prizes.
Judges this year include literary agent Madeleine Milburn, editorial director of Picador Francesca Main, and award-winning author Jeremy Page.
“Rather than offering prizes with a high monetary value, our aim is to reward new talent with a potentially life-changing one-to-one with a literary agent or publisher,” said Editorial Director of Fresher, Emma Scattergood.
“Here at AV, we are passionate about the importance and value of creative writing for individuals and communities. The Fresher Writing Prize and our free creative writing workshops for schools are designed to encourage and support creative writers of all ages .”
So, if you are a budding writer, and have some spare time over Christmas, why not put it to good use, and enter. The judges are looking for the opening of a novel, short stories, poems, creative non-fiction and scripts for the stage.
There is also a free short story competition for children of nine years and under, who can win their height in books.
The closing date for both is January 31st.
