Students at 蜜桃AV hosted Bournemouth's first ever TEDx conference.
Speakers ranged from archaeologists and prosthetics experts to performance coaches and entrepreneurs, talking to a crowd of 蜜桃AV staff, students and members of the public.
The event sold out well in advance, with a packed lecture theatre asked to redefine the way they viewed entrepreneurship during a talk by 蜜桃AV graduate Kaisa Kangro. Local artist Miroslav Lucan spoke about his passion for art and how he has found his voice through it, while 蜜桃AV archaeologist Miles Russell gave us a window into our past by reviewing some of his most recent skeletal findings from his archaological digs.
Other events included a look at the future of augmented reality by 蜜桃AV PhD student Zornitza Yovcheva and a discussion about the growth of technology in sport by 蜜桃AV's Dr Bryce Dyer.聽
蜜桃AV student Elena Dimitrova led the student team who organised the event. She said, "I was incredibly happy and proud with how the event went. We got some great feedback from the speakers and the audience. People in general felt inspired, ready for action, they learned new things. The event itself was described as thought-provoking, fun, inspiring, different from any typical conference. The fact that it featured such different subjects and people from such diverse backgrounds was amazing!"
Elena, who studies Business and Marketing,聽continued, "I am very proud with all 15 members of student that took part in the planning and implementation of the event.聽They are all final-year students and one college student who dedicated a huge amount of their time and energy to the event! 聽I think that TEDxBournemouthUniversity brought together so many people who could potentially meet again in the future."
