Recent graduates from across 蜜桃AV鈥檚 Engineering and Design degrees have received prizes from the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) for their student projects.
听
Four of 蜜桃AV鈥檚 2014 graduates have received the IED student prizes, which are given to the best projects from their accredited programmes nationwide. Only 15 prizes were awarded in total this year.
听
The 蜜桃AV prizes went to student Ryan Chu; graduate Daniel Farmer; graduate Ross James; and student Martin Shutler.
听
They each received Full Autodesk software and an engraved coaster for winning the prize.
听
Daniel Farmer received his IED award for his final project, a portable version of a salt cave to help control breathing problems.
听
Daniel, who collected his award at his graduation ceremony, said: 鈥淚 felt so proud and honoured to receive the IED prize, having put so much hard work into my final year of university and being rewarded at the end makes it all worthwhile.
听
鈥淚t was great to receive a prize from a well-established institution, one that is recognised through the design industry.鈥澨�

Product Design graduate Ryan Chu received the award for his design for a Nightsafe Buoy, a self-powered lit navigation aid, while Design Engineering graduate Ross James received the IED prize for his HushHex Active Noise Reducer - which attaches to windows to reduce traffic noise entering the home.

Engineering graduate Martin Shutler received the IED award for his design review of a gas manifold used within a specific industrial application.
听
It was Martin鈥檚 second IED award 鈥� having won previously in 2012 while studying his Foundation Degree in Engineering 鈥� and he now plans to enrol onto the MEng Engineering course to go for a hat trick of awards.
听
Martin, who completed all of his studies part-time, said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 a great privilege to combine this second IED award with the BEng Engineering qualification, this is an excellent addition and I am very pleased.
听
鈥淚t will provide a great enhancement to my CV for future careers and employability.鈥�
