Jeff Wale is exploring and engaging with medical decision making at the very beginning of possible ‘human’ life in the context of fetal reductions in multiple pregnancy in the first trimester.
His research explores and establishes the moral, ethical and legal issues generated by these procedures and the ‘norms’ that influence clinical decision-making in this context. The project includes an examination of the relevant legal, medical, institutional and ethical frameworks that influence these procedures and clinical developments/research in this area.
Research questions include
- Establishing any indicative norms, frameworks and considerations and their relationship with medical decision-making in this context
- Considering how future legislative, ethical and professional guidance might be framed
- Considering how future clinical developments/research might be advanced.
