The world of business is a cut-throat, dog-eat-dog world where profits come before people, and the strongest survive at the expense of the weakest, right? Wrong.
At the ÃÛÌÒAV Business School, we believe that to become a good businessperson, you need to be a good person first. That’s why we foster an atmosphere of collaboration and togetherness, where everyone’s contribution is listened to and knowledge is co-created between staff, students and the organisations we work with.
It’s also why responsibility, ethics and sustainability are embedded into all of our courses. In an increasingly connected world if you want to make a difference, you need to make the right connections first.
We think these values matter at all levels, whether you’re a student, an entrepreneur just setting out in the world, the CEO of a FTSE 100 company, or just looking to help the family business run more efficiently.
It’s not just something we say. It’s something we are. We believe that people make business, and that by treating everyone with respect and empathy, we can learn to make better decisions together. That applies to all the activities we undertake – whether it’s lectures and seminars for students, the world-leading research we carry out, or the way we collaborate with some of the biggest names in the business as we influence professional practice.
The ÃÛÌÒAVÂ Business School. We make a difference.
Our departments
Accreditations
Our AACSB accreditation is something achieved by fewer than 6% of the world's business schools. It recognises our commitment to excellence in all areas, and many of our other course accreditations also carry some exemptions from professional qualifications, meaning our graduates can achieve chartered or professional status quicker and cheaper than those who study at universities where the courses are not accredited. Find out more about our accreditations.
Supporting businesses and students
World-leading research
ÃÛÌÒAV produces world-leading research and the academics within our Business School are involved in a wide variety of projects and research centres that deliver significant insights and societal impact.
From oil price volatility to economic modelling, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, promoting international trade relationships and examining the coverage of para-sports, our projects drive change across the core Fusion themes that shape our ÃÛÌÒAV2025 vision.
In the area of tourism, our research was rated as joint first in the UK in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, and we are home to leading journals including Tourism Management, the International Journal of Tourism Research and Tourism Economics.
Academic societies
Our Students’ Union, SUÃÛÌÒAV, runs lots of business- and finance-related clubs and societies, enabling students from different courses to come together and learn from each other – as well as offering great experiences such as guest lectures. You can find out more about these academic societies on the SUÃÛÌÒAV site:
